About
Chalky Hill is the South's Premier Shooting Ground. Purpose landscaped in beautiful countryside with expansive views at Medstead, near Winchester in Hampshire.
We offer a top quality 50 bird English sporting clay pigeon shoot over nine stands that will challenge an experienced hand yet prove achievable for the less experienced gun.

The clay pigeon shooting ground has full facilities including a comfortable barn with fresh homemade food using local ingredients and eggs from our own chickens!! We have ample car parking and a loo.
​
We started this clay pigeon shooting ground with the aim of attracting new shooters to the sport and to encourage people to come along and have a go! To date we have helped thousands people experience clay shooting for the first time, so why not book a session with one of our experienced shooting coaches. We can supply everything you need.

INSTRUCTION AND COACHING
Our experienced instructors can tailor lessons to suit your individual needs and abilities.

Whether you are wanting to try out a new sport and gain essential knowledge of gun safety and etiquette or you may be looking to get your eye back in and rid yourself of any bad habits or you could be an intermediate/advanced shot looking for a new challenge. We can help.
​
We can offer group instruction for families and special occasions such as stag or hen days.
​
Chalky Hill prides itself on its inclusive and friendly atmosphere. Our instructors are approachable and professional. After shooting why not come back and relax in the barn and enjoy some refreshments all home cooked to order.
​
We can supply everything you need for a lesson to include clays, cartridges, gun hire, safety equipment and full instruction throughout with one of our qualified coaches. Prices are from £42.00 per person per hour and can be booked by emailing admin@chalkyhill.co.uk in advance.

Please note there is a 24hour notice period for Instructor/coaching Cancellations and a £60 per hour charge for late cancellations
ESSENTIALS COURSE
For complete beginners or those who have been shooting a short time and want to 'brush up' on their safety and technique.
​
This is a course of three lessons, run on our club shoot days. The lessons are constructed so that by the end of the third lesson you will be competent and safe enough to shoot at any clay pigeon shooting ground without supervision.
​

Lesson 1 - You will have a basic introduction to the gun, key safety points and clay shoot etiquette. We cover such things as how to carry a shotgun, how to place a shotgun on a gun rack and general safety matter. You will receive a 25 cartridge lesson lasting 1 hour.

Lesson 2 - As well as 25 clays of instruction, this will be your opportunity to consolidate what you learned in Lesson 1 whilst working you way through some more challenging clays such as a crossing bird.

Lesson 3 - This lesson is about applying what you have learned. Under close supervision you will complete a 25 bird round at our shooting ground over all stands. We'll still coach you on the targets but we will be ensuring that you are a competent gun who can go on to enjoy many years of safe shooting having had the right start!

NOVICE LESSONS

New shooters are always welcomed at Chalky Hill. We started this clay pigeon shooting ground with the aim of attracting new shooters to the sport and to encourage people to come along and have a go!
​
We take you through the basics of clay pigeon shooting, safety first, how the gun works, how to hold the gun properly to avoid a bruised shoulder and most importantly how to break some clays!
​
The package includes:

The use of an over and under 12 bore, 20 bore or 410 shotgun

25 cartridges and 25 clay pigeons
This package will take 1 hour to complete
The cost of the package is from £42.00 per person.
A 50 clay and cartridge package is also available for £80.00 per person.

Duncan has been running clay shoots for longer than he would like to admit. Affectionately known by his customers and friends alike as 'Lord Duncan' he has all the knowledge and experience needed for an enjoyable clay shoot or event.
Duncan is present at every shoot to welcome you and is always available for a good chat!

PAY AND PLAY
Chalky Hill offers a range of English sporting stands to challenge all abilities. The ground is fully equipped with automatic traps.
​
Our stands include a range of targets commencing with a simple going away and moving on to crossing, teal targets, rabbits, driven and much more. We change the layout regularly to keep things interesting!
We have created an informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere where clay pigeon shooting can be enjoyed by both clay and game shooters.
​
Cost £17 per person for a 50 bird round.

• Cartridges can only be fibre wad and no more then 28 grams
• Cartridges can be purchased on the day
• Guns and eye protection available for hire and ear plugs for sale
• Semi-Auto’s must use a flag

Equipment Hire and Event Planning
Hens/stags, Corporate, Charity, Private events, Equipment or Coaches....we can do it all!
All our Promatic clay traps for hire are remotely operated 12-volt automatic traps. Each clay trap is supplied with all you need to operate the trap; battery, release cable and button.

All of our traps are mounted on heavy duty custom built trailers so that they can easily be moved around and batteries are included. (Trailers are not roadworthy).We can also provide safety shooting cages. Clay trap hire starts from just £50 / day per trap if you collect it from us.
Course Design and Setting
When you hire your clay traps from us, we can also provide a course setting service to suit your clay shooting needs. With more than thirty years of experience creating enjoyable clay shooting events, we can deliver the traps and set them up for you guaranteeing a good day.
We can deliver full-service, turn-key course design, full construction and installation taking into account size of area available, ensuring shooter is not shooting into direct sunlight and making the most of the trees, land lie and vegetation.
Running your own event
If you are an experienced clay shooting event organiser we are able to help you run your own clay shooting events. From clay trap hire, course setting and the supply of clays and cartridges from our sister company Chalky Hill Country or even providing additional shooting instructors, then make sure to give us a call.
We have a number of clients who regularly use our full service to setup and run their own events whether this be a private function, a corporate reward day or indeed a charity shoot.
We specialise in organising the best bespoke, affordable and highly enjoyable simulated game shoots plus corporate and social shooting events at a variety of lovely venues in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. We can include professional coaching sessions and the event can be fully catered to your needs. These are a great way to entertain both business colleagues and friends.
Each of our simulated game shoots we accommodate from 9 to18 guns.
Corporate
Chalky Hill is able to offer you a range of corporate clay pigeon shooting days that will suit any size of organisation.

We have years of experience in organising clay pigeon shooting, we run our own shooting grounds and have a strong club membership, we know how to look after our shooters!
